About Roats Law Office, PLLC
Richard Roats grew up in Seattle, Washington. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Honors) in Political Science from Montana State University in 1987. He attended Willamette University College of Law in Salem Oregon. Upon graduation in 1990, he settled in Boise, Idaho where he started his legal career. He worked for a law firm in Boise where he built up a successful bankruptcy and civil practice. With the desire to get into the courtroom, he transferred to a criminal defense firm where he spent a significant amount of time in the courtroom and in front of juries. In 1995, he then started his own law firm and relocated to Valley County, Idaho. While in Valley County, he was elected for two terms as county prosecutor handling many criminal jury trials and the county's civil matters. In addition, he handled the criminal litigation for several cities. After nine years in Valley, County he and his family returned to Boise where in continued his law practice handling all aspects of criminal and civil litigation for several governmental entities, public and private companies and individuals. In his free time, he can be found at either the swimming pool, on his bike or out running the trails as he enjoys competing in triathlons.
